Dear Al Edwards,
It was a pleasure to have seen your article, and your statement to Jamaican Publishers. I being a proud born Jamaican who is now a very proud Canadian citizen for 65 years, that was given the opportunity to become a successful author in my retirement years by writing my autobiography was a blessing for me and my family. The funny thing is; I am not the first author in my family, as my grandfather Jamaican Police Inspector Herbert Theodore Thomas wrote 2 books and one Pamphlet on Jamaica after serving 47 years in the Constabulary. The four family books are:"Untrodden Jamaica"1890,"Something about Obeah"1891,"The story of a West Indian Policeman"1927, and my book "A Struggle to Walk with Dignity-the True story of a Jamaican-born Canadian"2008. Sadly Jamaica has ignored all of these books in their Libraries, Schools and in U.W.I. Mona. You my friend are the first Jamaican to speak up on this subject, which makes you a very honest and a special person in the new Jamaica that does not want to know it's past History. Please Google-User Pages "Info on Jamaican Police Inspector Herbert T. Thomas" and see some family facts. With my thanks to you, sincerely Gerald.

It is not wise for Jamaican educators to throw out the baby with the bath water, but should be preserving Jamaican literature and books by Jamaican authors. Too many Jamaican books are in the UK and other parts of the world, and are not in the Jamaican Library system nor in U.W.I. Mona. If a country does not protect it's own literature for our scholars of the future, who will ? As an example Herbert Theodore Thomas Police Inspector,Lecturer,Explorer,Naturalist & Author of three books on Jamaica. This 3rd generation white Jamaican served Jamaica for 47 years, and helped to make it a safer place. Also he should not be confused with other racist white men in our time of Colonial rule, because he had the guts to cross the racial divide of his time by marring my black Jamaican grandmother Lenora Thomas from Bethel Town Westmoreland. The contribution to Jamaica by H.T.Thomas was quite significant, and that is why Jamaicans can proudly say we are OUT of
MANY ONE. My autobiography tells the whole family story of the Thomas & Archambeau connection. Gerald.

I was excited when I first watched The Making of Jamaica by Air on line. I wanted to purchase the book. It is not available in the United States.

I have ordered it from Sangster's Book Store on line. Are you planning on having it in the book stores in the United States? I would be interested in helping to launch such a venture.

Please contact me with respect to this!
