About Rosemary Parkinson
Rosemary Parkinson has received a Caribbean Tourism Special Recognition Award for her phenomenal contribution to the literary world that has propelled the essence and authenticity of the Caribbean onto the worldwide stage as well as her commitment to and support of the region. Residing in Barbados Parkinson adds one of her goals is: “to finish documenting the culinary treasures of all the islands and hopefully one day see same on film. These are my goals, so time is of the essence!” Born in Venezuela of Trinidadian parents – her father the late Gordon Parkinson’s art is sought after in collector’s circles. She considers herself a Caribbean woman. Educated in Venezuela and later at Codrington High School in Barbados, she speaks both English and Spanish fluently. A consultant to the Inter-American Institute for Co-Operation in Agriculture (IICA), Parkinson is committed to the vision of the islands feeding themselves in an organic and healthy manner. For eight years a contributor to Thursday’s Food, The Gleaner (Jamaica) (egged on by Jamaicaophile Barbadian author Elombe Mottley) her stories traveled the Caribbean. She has contributed to several Caribbean magazines & continues to write for Jamaican Eats, Health, Home & Gardens, MACO and St. Vincent & The Grenadines Alliance Inflight magazine.
