Bookland New Kingston presents a lunch time book reading and signing event with Yvonne Coke, author of “Perspectives from the Jamaican M.A.P.”. The event happens on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 beginning at 2:00 p.m.

“Perspectives from the Jamaican MAP” taps into the thorough-going Judeo Christian ethic that is foundation to the national Motto, Anthem and Pledge which is referred to as the National Map by Mrs. Coke. She is not afraid to name demonic powers in the past, present and looming future of Jamaica against what seems to be a clear conviction that God’s good purpose will prevail.
Mrs. Yvonne Coke is founder of Hands across Jamaica for Righteousness (HANDS) and she has designed several programmes including Jamaica Homecoming Week for Diasporans; the Concert of Magnificent Music, featuring the best of Jamaica’s musicians; the MAP Keeper Programme and the MAP Ambassador programme with children and youth mentors. HANDS has heralded the call to Jamaicans from all parts of the world to return to their communities to give back to their Primary schools in response to the call of duty inherent in the MAP.
Yvonne’s corporate work life includes a successful career in the life insurance industry as Rookie of the Year and a member of the Prestigious Million Dollar Round Table while at Life of Jamaica Ltd. Her job working in the Supreme Court of Jamaica as well as in the
largest law firms in Jamaica and in the United States and her job with Delta Airlines made it possible for her to gain valuable experience on the job and through extensive travel. She has had the privilege of a close relationship with the nation’s Patriarch, Rev. Dr. Hugh Sherlock whose biography she has written, as well as former Governor General Sir Howard Cooke, whose biography she is now completing.
