Book Industry Association Of Jamaica Celebrates Anancy – June 11

Join the Book Industry Association of Jamaica on Saturday, June 11, for an event celebrating the 3rd Annual Anancy Festival. It’s two cities, two events and one great day celebrating Anancy from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where?
In JA: Kingston and St Andrew Parish Library, 2 Tom Redcam Drive, Kingston 3
In FL: Southwest Broward Regional Library, 7300 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024

A segment of each of the two simultaneous events will be streamed (live simulcast) to the audience in the other location.

Expected highlights:

  • Anancy storytelling by Amina Blackwood Meeks, Adziko Simba and Lilieth Nelson
  • Readings from new Anancy books by Geoffrey Phillips and Kellie Magnus
  • Short films on Anancy by Laura Tanna, Lukke Chong and Rachel Moss
  • Exhibit on Jamaican spiders from the Natural History Division of the Institute of Jamaica
  • Exhibit of Anancy illustrations by young Jamaican artists: Rachel Moss, Roxanne Richardson, Andre McLean and Nick Shelton
  • Anancy face-painting, arts and crafts and spider snacks
  • Anancy books and other Caribbean children’s books on sale
