Jamaica’s Gifts To The World is a new book by Lloyd Eubank-Green (Past President of the Rotary Club of St. Andrew). The book highlights some of Jamaica’s most notable achievers on the world stage, including billionaire businessman Michael Lee Chin, sprint king Usain Bolt, reggae star Bob Marley, former US Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Professor of Physics at the University of the West Indies and part of the Nobel Prize winning team for research on climate change, Professor Anthony Chen.
The 154-page book features short biographies on a number of Jamaicans whose impact has been felt in both the local and international arena. While some of the subjects are not so well known, their accomplishments are nevertheless noteworthy. The writing is informative and easily digestible and one comes away fully cognisant of the fact that Jamaica, with a population of under 3 million, has produced luminaries in practically all fields of endeavours. The book is a celebration of the national character and with stories of ambition, steadfastness, talent and against-all-odds achievement is very inspirational.
According to Eubank-Green, “This book took me eight years to complete. I discovered that over the last 50 years, we as a country have produced more in business and science than we have in sports and entertainment. We have produced two billionaires from the world of finance, that is Michael Lee Chin and Ray Chang, while black America’s billionaires come from the world of entertainment and number just two — namely Oprah Winfrey and Robert Johnson of BET. I sincerely hope that this book serves as inspiration and a source of pride for generations of Jamaicans.”

Very good. It is lovely that a Jamaican can undertake such a research and show the world that jamaicans are not only top rate sportsmen
